ALL ABOARD

ALL ABOARD

All Aboard was a commission from the National Motor Museum at Beaulieu for their exhibition Motopia? Past Future Visions. The work has five fictitious characters meeting on a 1960’s Route Master double-decker bus. The travelers are developed from posters in the Shell Heritage Collection. Each one tells a story of their changing attitudes to big oil and oil companies. They in turn hold a critique up against their own past and now promote a changing future. One, The Engineer, has reignited his flagging hope by turning to the possibilities wind as an anergy source, another remembers her mother and her feminist roots in suffrage. Even Brimham Rock is giving a commentary on the car, dirt and people climbing all over it.

The work is a dialogue, a pooling of emotional energies to question oil companies poor record in driving change within the energy sector, there track record of investment and lack of leadership in meeting todays challenges.
